A little over six years ago, I was expecting a boy. I had dreams about a little boy with dark hair and dark eyes. At our ultrasound at 20 weeks, I was told that it was a boy and he would be born in March of 2002. I was overdue and finally induced on April 1st, 2002 and lo and behold, the joke was on US!
We had been talking while I was in labor about April Fools jokes. "What IF we had a girl, ha ha, April Fools!" When our baby finally arrived, we were told it was a girl. Everyone around the room laughed as we were waiting for the "April Fools" to follow her last announcement...except she never said it. It really WAS a girl!
We named her Ryanna, after her daddy. She had these huge brown eyes and lots of dark hair. When she was a baby, she always smelled pink. She had colic and made us crazy, and she was always dramatic; but she's such a sweetheart to her brothers. She's a princess and knows it.

This was the present from Grandma and Grandpa Holdaway. She got 4 Junie B. Jones books, a Curious George book and a DARLING outfit for summertime! She'll look adorable in it!

Oh my goodness - that same thing happened to my sister-in-law's sister. Darn those ultrasound techs! I think that top pic of her looks a lot like your youngest - such cuties!

Walking down memory lane has made me a little teary. I'm SO glad that we lived close when she was little so I could see her at all these stages.
Ryanna, I hope you are having the best birthday in the whole wide world! You were the cutest little baby with big brown eyes and a cute little smile. I remember how everything you did was cute, when you stood up for the first time, said your first word, had your first haircut...all your projects and messes were cute too! (We are the grandparents, we can say that!) I love your energy and zest for life. (Have Daddy tell you what 'zest' means.) I love how you love to read, how you take care of your brothers, how you help your mom and dad. I love how you are always thinking about stuff and want to see how things work. I love how you do everything with enthusiasm! (You are so much like your mom was when she was YOUR age!) I love our Grammie sleepovers. I love how you read me books and sing me songs on the phone so it doesn't seem like I'm so far away. I love YOU and everything about you. Happy Birthday, Ryanna Banana!!

ohhhhhh. SO CUTE!!! I can't believe you have a 6 year old!!! She is such a beautiful little girl. I liked her birth story too. How fun! We'll definitely have to celebrate ALL birthdays next year. I didn't realize we had that in common. :)
