don't judge a book by its movie...

...SO TRUE!
I am not a reader. I don't circuit the library as often as I should and I'm not up on all the current cool books. I ADORE Sophie Kinsella (aka Madeline Wickham) and I enjoy all of her books; but if I pick up a book that is NOT written by her and have to take time out of my every day to read, it better be worth it.

I got this book because I absolutely love the movie and I thought that I would love it.

NOT!

I'm so disappointed. They have changed plots of the story, the friends aren't even the same (nor do they even have the same traits and occupations as they did in the book), the main character is completely different (she's BLOND in the book!), Nigel has gray HAIR in the book, the main character's boyfriend's name and occupation is completely DIFFERENT, etc.

The only thing they took from the book was a few names, places and lines. That's IT!

I would completely change the book's title. Or at least have the movie follow the book a little more. I kept waiting for things to happen that occurred in the movie, that NEVER happened in the book. And visa verse.

Bummer dude. Oh well, did you read it and what did YOU think?

I know- I was so disappointed with the book (I read it before the movie though, so I do like the movie). That is why I keep on avoiding Confessions of a Shopaholic- I mean they moved it to NYC. Although the new Kinsella book is pretty good (I read about half of it at Borders the other day). I have had better luck with the Bridget Jones books (they are much better than the movie).

Tom gave me the book and the movie for my birthday a year or so ago. I have to say I LOVED them both. I read the book first . . . and you're right, the movie is a completely different entity than the book.

I was super disappointed in the Tale of Despereaux book-to-movie translation. THAT was a super disappointment to all those that LOVE the book!

I just got done reading and watching both Jones movies! You're right.
I was thinking of a good point the other day as I was sitting annoyed with the book/movie. Maybe the whole movie could have happened, it was just not told about in the book. Possible stories that could have happened based on characters introduced in the book. Maybe I should give it another try.

I've never read the book, but both Megan and I are obsessed with the movie. Favorite line, "I said to myself, go ahead. Take a chance. Hire the smart, fat girl."

I know. I hate it when they do that. Makes you wonder how they can even call it the same movie/book when they take so many "artistic interpretations" and change everything. How disappointing.
