that's FUN?

I found Ryanna "playing" on the couch and since she was awfully quiet, I asked her what she was doing.  Since it was free time and her brothers were off making mischief in the other room, she told me that she was doing her mathFOR FUN!  She was trying to find patterns, trying to make sense of multiplying and dividing by different numbers.  Oooooooookay.
She's SO not my kid.  Have you ever known ME to do math for fun?! It's just not the same without threats, bribes, low grades and constantly fighting with my dad who was always patient to help me.
Huh.  Interesting how those memories stick with you and haunt you years later...

Wow. Well I am with you when it comes to math. Most musicians are, really, which is still odd to me since math and music are supposed to use the same parts of the brain.

I HATED math! That's awesome you have a child that loves to do it for fun. Okay, so maybe I knew this, but I didn't know your family and my parents are in the same ward. She was speaking very highly of you the other day.

Wow what a week for you!! I know what surgery is like for little boys and their mommies. I was misty just seeing the pictures. Your mom hasn't aged a day!! Holy cow you get to enjoy those awesome genes. I love the picture of the clothes on the stairs. Looks like something my boys would do. Your daughter and my Jacob are two peas in a pod. Right now he is reading Fable Haven. He is loving it. Hope to see you soon!

I had dejavu watching Ryanna at her Christmas program yesterday...sitting in the SAME gym where I watched her mother as a little girl. Didn't make me feel old...but rather nostalgic and grateful...happy sigh. But doing math for fun...not something I have any memories of her mother doing as a little girl!!
