We got out the slip-n-slide yesterday and tried to teach the kids how to do it. It was absolutely HILARIOUS!
Ryanna would start waaaaaaay back and run run run and FLOP! She'd belly flop onto the slide and then not go anywhere. If she DID go anywhere, she'd veer right and land on the grass about halfway down the slide.
Dawson would also start waaaaaaay back and run run run also. Unlike Ryanna, he would have all this momentum and then THUD! Land on his knees. Bringing him to a complete stop. And he looked up at me like, "Why aren't I moving?"
Carter wouldn't run and slide. He would just run up and down the slide, getting in the way of the other two. He'd mostly play in the water at the end of the slide. And because neither of the older two would actually slide that far, Carter could play as long as he wanted!
Even when he would TRY his best to slide, he would just sit there. Didn't go anywhere!
It wasn't until a little later that I resorted to running behind Ryanna and Dawson and actually PUSH them down the slide. They thought that was great, as did I; but it's exhausting! We all had a lot of fun, though. After a while, they got the hang of it and started getting better at it.
The water that we use for the slip-n-slide is cold irrigation water. So it only took about 20 minutes and all three of their lips were quivering. I got this awesome idea.
I took the little pool inside and threw it into the bathtub, filling it up with warmish/hot water. I hauled it outside (YES it was very very heavy and I did it without spilling, thank you very much) and threw it on the grass. The kids called it a Hot Tub. So they were warming up in their little pool they affectionately called a Hot Tub! Needless to say, it wore them out and we had some summer fun.
Fun times! You gotta love summer and make-shift hot tubs.

JEALOUS!! Today has been warmer than usual and it 65. Looks like a lot of fun though!

I was waiting for the picture of you in your teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini demonstrating the finer points of water sliding to your kids! I'm so disappointed. Loved the pics of the kids, though. (And still trying not to envision you hauling a plastic pool of water through the house... did it occur to you that you'd give your mom gray hairs if you did it?!) Best get all those kinds of things out of your system before August, girlfriend! (lol!) Carter looks so grown up. Your dad said that Dawson was worried that Grandad would be mad if he knew you guys were living in Grandad's house. So funny! Can't wait to be there with all of you!! (I hope there's room in that hot tub for Grammie!) :) Thanks for the great post!
