The kids and I sat down to a sophisticated lunch. However, Ryanna wouldn't have anything to do with them, since she saw an episode of SpongeBob where he helps take care of a baby clam and she thinks you're eating an animal that wears a cartoon diaper. Dawson was curious as I put them in front of him and this is how the conversation went:
Dawson: "Ewwww, I don't want to try them. It looks gross!"
Me: "They aren't gross, they're yummy. Just smell them!"
Dawson: (after persuading him to at least pick one up) "How do you eat them like?" (meaning, "How am I supposed to eat them? WHAT part is edible?!")
Me: "You pick out this part of the shell and stick it in your mouth."
Dawson: "What does clams taste like?"
Me: "They taste like CHICKEN!"
Immediately he perked up and enthusiastically said, "Ohhh!Okay!" and shoved one in his mouth.
"Mmmmmmm! I like CHICKEN CLAMS!"

YUM! And clam chowder is one of my favorites.
I laughed out loud on this post. What a kid! That face is priceless. From, "I don't think so Mama" to "YUM CHICKEN CLAMS!" He's a brave kid :)
He's more adventurous than I am!! You are too for that matter. Hope Moscow is treating you well. We are almost to the middle of summer :).
Oh, look at him all proud of himself for eating chicken clams!! You are a great mom for exposing your kids to such sophisticated things!! (I wouldn't have even thought fresh clams would be available there. Moscow never ceases to amaze and surprise us!!)
